On Friday, October 6, 2017, companies across the country opened their doors to students, teachers and counselors to highlight the technologies and careers in the world of advanced manufacturing with the common goal of inspiring the next generation of manufacturing professionals. This was the third time Oakland County, Michigan participated in the national Manufacturing Day event and the first for Ferndale Contract Manufacturing.
We were visited by ten students and a guidance counselor from neighboring Oak Park High School. The students stated a wide range of career goals including forensic chemists, mechanical engineers, general business, psychology, sports medicine, actress, and military. This half-day program included a brief presentation describing who we are and what we do, a question and answer session and a tour of the facility.
The students were very engaged and asked several thought-provoking questions about the company, the products we make and test, drug manufacturing in general and our interaction with the United State Food and Drug Administration. Participants from both Ferndale Contract Manufacturing and Oak Park High agreed that the program was beneficial and they would recommend future participation.
